1. A situation in which an employee could be dismissed with the economic or production grounds defined in the Finnish Employment Contracts Act. In these situations, the duration of the temporary layoff is not limited. Note! Before the temporary layoff, relocation and training for other duties should be investigated as decreed in the Finnish Employment Contracts Act (section 7 paragraph 3).

2. A situation in which the work or the chance to arrange work has been temporarily reduced. In these situations, the temporary layoff is evaluated to last a maximum of 90 days. Before the temporary layoff, it should be investigated whether other work could be arranged for the employee within reason or whether he/she could be trained to meet the employer’s needs.
